Week 3 Image of the Week - Man in Prison

When you view this picture, remember two important things:

1) With the USA PATRIOT Act, the U.S. Federal Government effectively nullified 5 of the original first 10 Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, especially these Amendments, 6 & 8:

Article [VI.]
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.

Article [VIII.]
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

2)  When the National Defense Authorization Act (S. 1867) passes, there is a provision in that bill to allow the U.S. Federal Government to incarcerate U.S. Citizens indefinitely, as in for the rest of your natural life, if they choose, without bail, and without a trial.  I say again:  The government will be able to hold you as long as they want, like for the rest of your life, without breaking the law.  So effectively, this new law will supersede the Bill of Rights and suspend habeas corpus.
